‘Tis the Season for Coverall Cares
Charity drive for Women in Distress of Broward County
Henry Drummond, author of The Greatest Thing in the World, once wrote: “Happiness consists in giving, and in serving others.” Today, it’s easy to equate happiness with monetary value, and as “generation now,” we want things right away, possibly overlooking the long-term effects of our actions.
That is why Coverall Support Centers around the country are showing that Coverall Cares this holiday season by supporting their communities and contributing to more than a dozen charitable organizations.
Coverall’s Global Support Center, in Deerfield Beach, Florida chose to support Women in Distress of Broward County, one of the only national-accredited and state-certified domestic violence centers. This growing organization gives a voice to those without one by supporting families in abusive situations. Over the years, the center has grown from a 54-bed shelter to 132 beds, including an outreach center and a thrift store.
The Jim and Jan Moran Family Center in Deerfield Beach, located near Coverall Headquarters, expanded in 2011. New additions included a wellness center, a therapy room and a wing for families with special needs.
During a second phase of expansion, they plan to build a pet shelter to provide a safe place for pets of those who are victims of domestic abuse.
This group stays very active throughout the year. Besides accepting donations and hosting annual events such as luncheons, a 5K run and a golf tournament, they run other campaigns to spread awareness of domestic violence and gain support for the women and families of Broward County.
Do you live in the Broward County area? 1 in 4 women experience domestic violence during their life, and there are many ways to help Women in Distress in your community. Find out what you can do this holiday season and year round at http://www.womenindistress.org/donate/
